What is Play Therapy?
Play-based supports use play, creativity and a child's natural interests to help them build emotional wellbeing, confidence, social skills and resilience. Through activities such as play, art, storytelling and games, children are supported to explore feelings, develop coping skills and strengthen their relationships in a safe and engaging environment.
Is it just play?
While play may look simple from the outside, play based therapy is a structured and evidence-informed approach that uses a child’s natural language - play - to help them express emotions, process experiences, develop coping skills and work through challenges. The therapist carefully observes, responds and supports the child’s growth through the therapeutic relationship and the play process.
About Sam!
I am an accredited Social Worker with postgraduate training in play therapy. I have a passion for supporting children’s emotional wellbeing. My experience in working with children and families has shown me the importance of proving a safe, accepting and nuero-affirming space where children can express themselves and work through life’s challenges and experiences. My practice is grounded in a child-centred, relationship-based approach, recognising that each child has unique strengths, experiences and needs. I am committed to creating a warm and welcoming environment where children can feel safe to engage, explore and grow.
